The Food and Climate Shaper Boot Camps are conducted both online and at inspiring locations around the world. Both the virtual and in-person formats feature the same challenge-based and interactive learning experience. Explore our upcoming programs below.
Future food Boot Camps
Our Boot Camps identify, train, and engage “Climate Shapers,” by bringing together like-minded individuals from around the world to co-design tangible strategies and innovations to accelerate action on climate and facilitate a societal transition towards the sustainable development framework.
Participants meet expert innovators and get a view of the future with new sustainable and nutritious agri-food models. Organized at inspiring locations, or in a virtual format, they include insights from relevant best practices, startups, spin-offs, and innovative projects.
Locations
Available online or in-person at inspiring locations, our Food & Climate Shaper Boot Camps are developed to provide meaningful and actionable training in the sustainable development of global food systems.
Future Food have selected meaningful locations that integrate with the theme of each program. These locations provide opportunities to visit relevant best practices, startups, spin-offs, or other innovative projects.
experiential learning for food sustainability
Leveraging experiential learning methods, Boot Camps include interactive workshops and integrate participants with local communities, using ecosystemeic and prosperity thinking approaches.
For every Boot Camp there will also be a pre-course program based on e-learning material that has been developed by FAO.
The food system challenges we face today cannot be solved by the approaches and thinking that created them. We need a new ecosystemic mindset and new skills that leverage digital tools for glocal action. We need leaders who understand that everything is connected, achieving sustainable development in one area cannot come at the cost of another.
Participants learn design thinking and prototyping, they get out in the community to connect with local food heroes, attend events to experience different food cultures, have one-on-one sessions with Food System Mentors, and work on real-life challenges in the culminating Hackathon.
Curriculum
The curriculum is built upon an experiential learning platform that allows participants to engage in an international workshop environment comprised of live experiences, challenges, prototyping exercises, teamwork-based innovation challenges, mentorship sessions, and inspirational talks presented by visionary entrepreneurs, policymakers, innovators, and thought leaders.
The platform is composed of three distinct training experiences:
Inspiration – To combine learning and innovation to get a view of the future, through the eyes of big visionaries and experts.
Aspiration – To unlock your potential by realizing your ideas, at the side of the doers.
Action – To convert your ideas into action and make a transformation within your communities.
In addition to the new skills and insights, participants who successfully complete the Boot Camp, and all related activities, will earn a Climate Shaper certificate, from Future Food Institute. This certificate can be displayed on your social media profiles and included in your CV.
