Creating Better Research Careers in Europe: Future Food Institute Joins ERA-CAREERS

What makes a research career sustainable, inclusive and rewarding? And how can Europe transform shared principles into meaningful change?

These questions lie at the core of the ERA-CAREERS, a new Horizon Europe project uniting 18 organisations across eight countries to enhance research careers and build a more supportive research ecosystem across Europe.

Future Food Institute is proud to be part of this collaboration, which aims to translate the principles of the European Charter for Researchers into practical action: creating better conditions for researchers to grow, collaborate and contribute to society.

Over the next three years, ERA-CAREERS will connect research institutions, universities, innovation organisations and other stakeholders to identify challenges, develop learning and certification opportunities, share good practices, and foster Communities of Practice. The goal is to make research careers more attractive, inclusive and sustainable, with a focus on early-career researchers.

At Future Food Institute, we believe that lasting innovation starts with people. Through our work at the intersection of education, research, sustainability and community engagement, we bring experience in connecting diverse perspectives and turning shared knowledge into opportunities for action. Within ERA-CAREERS, we will contribute to the project’s focus on Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) and Inclusiveness, helping strengthen the human and collaborative dimensions of research and innovation.
