How might we guarantee safe food for the human community and the Planet?
Creating a more efficient and sustainable food system, able to make an indirect and long term impact on food security, cannot be done in a single stroke but it requires holistic value chain and food system approach, from the harvest moment to the distribution or processing phase, or at the consumer level with sustainable diets and consumption.
Therefore, Future Food Institute is bringing together representatives of the different parts of our society to reflect on how to improve food security and achieve prosperity in the Sustainable Development Framework. The Round Table will host a discussion between industries, institutions, startups, and youth climate activists.
We will talk with Maximo Torero from Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) whose aim is to achieve food security for all, with Jonathon Porritt, one of the most active environmentalists and founder of Forum for the Future, an international non-profit working to solve complex sustainability challenges. Pierluigi Sigismondi will represent the industries tackling the problem of food security and who are not satisfied with “business as usual”. Dole in his Promise and acts is reflecting a strong commitment to increase access to sustainable nutrition around the world, also ensuring zero fruit loss, zero fossil-based plastic packaging by 2025, and aiming for net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 while continuing impact positively all farmers, communities, and people working for them. Also, Peter Schelstraete from Ubuntoo, Max Schorr from Upworthy and the young activists Melati Wijsen, Ugo and Emma Angeletti, and Joshua Williams will join our conversation.
