This international conference, a cornerstone event in the realm of ecological and societal regeneration, is scheduled for Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Tokyo Square Garden.

RegenerAction Japan will be held to delve into and disseminate the concept of regeneration: this global trend that has now reached Japan, with the aim of spreading it across the world. The event aims to forge a sustainable future that honors the rich cultural heritage of Japan while integrating modern innovation. It is a call for a collective shift toward practices that are not just sustainable but actively regenerative. RegenerAction is inspired by the Edo period’s ancient wisdom, where sustainable living and respect for nature were inherently practiced.

This initiative aspires to catalyze a cultural and environmental renaissance, creating a blueprint for a regenerative development model. It encourages the synthesis of ancestral knowledge with cutting-edge technology, crafting a future where ecology, community, and economy are in harmonious synergy. With Tokyo as the epicenter of this renewal, RegenerAction Japan aims to spread its vision and outcomes beyond national borders, highlighting Japan’s role in global regeneration and sustainable innovation.

WHAT IS REGENERATION

Regeneration is a transformative process that goes much further than sustainability. It involves restoring, renewing, and revitalizing our own resources, as well as the natural world, to create systems that can maintain and sustain themselves over time. In Europe and the USA, the concept of Regeneration is not new; however, for many in Japan, this represents a novel approach, integrating the dynamic of growth with care for our environment and societies. It implies a holistic approach to healing damaged ecosystems and communities, aiming to improve biodiversity, soil health, and social structures. Unlike mere conservation, regeneration is proactive, imbuing new life and vigor into agriculture, urban development, and community building.

About RegenerAction:

RegenerAction has been created in 2021 by the Future Food Institute to catalyze change toward ecological and sustainable development. The goal is to inspire meaningful debates and concrete action in six focus areas: political action, land regeneration, human regeneration, social regeneration, cultural regeneration, and economic regeneration.

RegenerAction 2022 — organized as part of EU AgriFood Week, in collaboration with the European Commission Representation in Italy — focused on the vital connection between food, health, and ecosystems amidst global crises. The event explored sustainable practices like bioeconomy and regenerative agriculture to achieve Agenda 2030. It united varied stakeholders to work towards an improved future aligned with NEXT GENERATION EU’s regenerative objectives. Watch the playlist.

In 2023, RegenerAction was an “unconference” where seventy international guests gathered to exchange innovations, ideas, and perspectives on topics ranging from longevity and new forms of land use to environmental issues, digital transition, human capital, and soft power.

The participation of a consistent Japanese delegation made it possible to export the concept of Integral Ecological Regeneration and cutting-edge practices to Europe, leading to the organization of a RegenerAction event in Tokyo, Japan, in December 2023. This event will be an opportunity to establish strategic bilateral agreements and promote concrete actions for the planet’s regeneration.
