Edible Connections Week: Four Days to Imagine the Future of Food in Bologna

From June 16 to 19, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, Scuderia – Future Food Living Lab in Bologna will host Edible Connections Week, a series of public events exploring the relationship between food, culture, sustainability, and community. The initiative celebrates Sustainable Gastronomy Day through four interactive gatherings that examine food as a tool for connection, memory, resilience, and regeneration.

The program opens on June 16 with “Food as Belonging,” a reflection on food as a source of identity and community building. On June 17, in recognition of the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, “Water Memories: Poetry & Oral Histories” will explore the relationship between water, memory, and food security through poetry, dialogue, and fermentation practices.

On June 18, “Where Science Meets Sensory Experience” brings together gastronomy and science in a journey through fermentation, sensory perception, and food innovation. The week concludes on June 19 with “Imagining Regenerative Food Futures,” a participatory session dedicated to envisioning more sustainable, inclusive, and regenerative food systems for the future.

Through storytelling, sensory workshops, tastings, collective art, and food experiences, citizens, students, researchers, artists, and professionals will contribute to a collaborative installation made up of reflections, memories, recipes, and visions for the future of food, co-created throughout the week.
