World Pulses Day

Growing, eating, and using pulses have countless benefits.

Benefits for the environment, considering their minimal environmental impact and their mitigating action against climate change.

But also incredible benefits for humans! As an essential part of the human diet for hundreds of years, pulses are a concentration of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and fibers. This makes them not only incredible superfoods but also food capable of preventing issues such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.

“Let your food be your medicine and let your medicine be your food,” as Hippocrates passed on to us.

Yet, pulses aren’t just that. They also represent an incredible lever for food security. Not only because their protein intake and high nutritional value can be stored for months, but also because of their amazing versatile use: human consumption, animal consumption, or crop sales.

This is also part of the mission of Future Food Mediterraneo: to bring to life the concept of integral ecology through integrated approaches and nature-based solutions in order to promote the active conservation of natural, agro-ecological, and cultural biodiversity, and human health.
Because everything on this Earth is naturally interconnected!

Happy International Pulses Day!
