The Waste and Circular Systems Initiative promotes circular mindsets through reimagination of waste value to facilitate transition to climate-smart lifestyles.
Far beyond the economic loss, wasting and losing food represents an unnecessary cost for our Planet to bear. Developing a circular mindset not only involves recycling, reuse, remanufacturing, and refurbishment but also means minimizing the use of resource inputs and improving food inefficiencies. Before becoming waste, food is a vital element for human survival, it is a precious value.
This Initiative has been grounded into a plurality of projects and activities aimed at first increasing consciousness and awareness, and secondly, gathering the global community, with its beautiful and diverse voices, to lead towards actionable and long-lasting change.
Launched for the first United Nations International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, this 8-hours digital marathon stimulated conscious conversations from farm to table, from institutional halls to climate-smart labs and kitchens.
