Together on July 23, at the Virtual Summit “Empowering Global Nutrition with Digital Technology”
The annual event brings together industry experts, researchers, and influencers worldwide on food and public health issues.
10 July 2022: The NNEdPro Global Centre for Nutrition and Health, an International and Interdisciplinary think tank that promotes nutrition education issues, and Future Food Institute, an agribusiness research and training hub, will work together on a series of initiatives to promote nutrition that is healthy for humans and sustainable for the Planet. The first joint activity will be held during the International Summit on Nutrition and Health, which will take place digitally on Saturday, July 23. The event, hosted by NNEdPro, will also feature Sara Roversi, president of the Future Food Institute, who will be one of the speakers at the summit’s main event.
The NNEdPro International Summit on Nutrition and Health is a premier meeting for the international scientific community that meets annually to showcase and exchange best practices on food, nutrition, and public health. The theme chosen for 2022 is, “Empowering Global Nutrition with Digital Technology,” that aims to focus on new opportunities related to the relationship between nutrition and technology. Speakers, panelists, attendees include industry experts, researchers, professors, and influential figures who will explore these issues in depth during plenary sessions and interactive discussions, and address complex challenges in the wake of the UN’s One Health concept and the SDGs of Agenda 2030.
“The alliance with NNEdPro, which has been promoting healthy and sustainable nutrition worldwide since 2008, is a further step toward regenerating agri-food systems in a holistic sense for the Future Food Institute. We are already at the forefront of affirming the right to nutrition, emphasizing its many implications from social and environmental perspectives. Today, we consolidate this position, bringing our commitment to the International Summit in July and bringing this global ecosystem to Italy and Pollica, home of the Mediterranean diet and a lifestyle that is first and foremost a model of integral ecology, where the concept of OneHealth finds its application both tangible and intangible,” says Sara Roversi, President of the Future Food Institute.
Prof. Sumantra (Shumone) Ray – Executive Director and Founding Chair of NNEdPro: ‘’We are absolutely delighted to welcome the Future Food Institute as a new strategic partner of NNEdPro and a key supporter of our 2022 International Summit exploring the timely topic of how digital technology can empower global nutrition and address inequalities. We very much look forward to one and all from the FFI networks joining the rich scientific and strategic dialogue that will take place in the form of a marathon of regional network meetings topic specific satellite events and a finale throughout the month of July’’.
The collaboration between NNEdPro and Future Food Institute will not end there. To promote healthy and sustainable nutrition for the Planet, the two centers will work jointly to raise awareness through mutual involvement in international initiatives, such as the International Summit in July (Virtual Event) and the educational Boot Camps that FAO and Future Food organize annually, both in-person and digitally, to train classes of “Climate Shapers.” In addition, this collaboration between NNEdPro and FFI will adapt the “Mobile Teaching Kitchen” model in the Mediterranean region, to strengthen communities by sharing knowledge and skills through nutrition education to improve the health and well-being of women, children, and families in all communities, especially marginalized and underserved communities.
