The Circle – Mediterranean School: A Global Alliance for Integral Ecology

March 12, 2025 | Didacta, Florence

A Global Coalition for the Twin Transition

In an era marked by climate crises, biodiversity loss, and rapid digital transformation, education must evolve into a powerful catalyst for change. To respond to this need, the Future Food Institute and the Centro Studi Dieta Mediterranea Angelo Vassallo proudly present The Circle – Mediterranean School at Didacta 2025—the premier Italian event dedicated to educational innovation.

This initiative brings together schools, cultural heritage custodians, and global innovators, inspired by the Mediterranean Diet, a UNESCO-recognized intangible heritage, to pioneer a model of Integral Ecological Development for future generations. More than science and policy, this approach values culture, knowledge, and collective action.

The Circle: Schools and Territories United for Sustainability

“The Circle” is an international alliance that fosters cooperation between schools, local communities, and innovation hubs. Its mission? To shape a new educational paradigm where learning becomes a driver of ecological and digital transformation. Teachers, students, and institutions will engage in innovative training programs, immersive experiences, and international mobility initiatives, all aimed at fostering cooperation, entrepreneurship, and gastrodiplomacy.

Key Speakers and Thought Leaders

Moderated by Sara Roversi, President of Future Food Institute, and Stefano Pisani, Mayor of Pollica and Secretary of UNESCO Mediterranean Diet Emblematic Communities, the event will feature prominent voices from the fields of education, sustainability, and social innovation:

Education as a Laboratory for Ecological and Social Regeneration

According to サラ・ロヴェルシ, “With ‘The Circle,’ we aim to build an innovative educational model that connects new generations with the wisdom of the Mediterranean Diet, transforming schools into laboratories for ecological and social regeneration. Ten years after the launch of the SDGs, the Paris Agreement, and Laudato Si’, we face a crucial choice: accelerate climate action or lose the opportunity to regenerate our planet. Education is key to creating conscious citizens and changemakers.”

For Stefano Pisani, “Pollica has long been a beacon for the Mediterranean Diet and its deep ecological consciousness. With this initiative, we strengthen our commitment to training young leaders capable of tackling global challenges while preserving our cultural and natural heritage.”

Turning Students into Climate Shapers

“The Circle” will provide participants with cutting-edge tools and methodologies to integrate sustainability into school curricula, transforming students into real Climate Shapers, ready to tackle the challenges of the future with creativity and systemic thinking.
