Diverse variet\u00e0 di piante, principalmente gli alberi da frutto, restano \u201cantiche\u201d, cio\u00e8 non migliorate. Il ruolo dei contadini locali \u00e8 centrale nella conservazione di tali variet\u00e0, strettamente legata a tradizioni culinarie (antiche variet\u00e0 di uva da tavola vengono usate per lo <\/span><b>zabib &#8211; uva essiccata<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ed il <\/span><b>sammit &#8211; sciroppo ottenuto bollendo l\u2019uva<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). L\u2019aspetto pi\u00f9 importante di tali variet\u00e0 rimane il loro adattamento al microclima locale, che oltre alla resistenza a stress biotici e abiotici implica un uso inferiore di acqua, agenti chimici per il controllo di malerbe o patogeni, fertilizzanti, il che rappresenta un grande potenziale di ricerca.
