The recognition honors FFI\u2019s commitment to the safeguarding and promotion of food, environmental, and social heritage through regenerative practices, ecological education, and the empowerment of local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Future Food Institute is the <strong>first Italian institution<\/strong> to receive the <strong>Costa Carras European Citizens Award<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The jury, which evaluated projects from 13 European countries including Italy, Greece, Germany, Armenia, Slovenia, Cyprus, Portugal, and Turkey, stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Future Food Institute (FFI) is a pioneering force in transforming global food systems through education, innovation, and community engagement. Recognizing food as much more than a nutritional necessity, FFI celebrates its deep cultural role rooted in social traditions. Its commitment to prosperity-oriented thinking \u2013 balancing economic growth, social wellbeing, and environmental protection \u2013 demonstrates a holistic and impactful approach.<br>Of particular note is the Institute\u2019s work to protect <em>menaica<\/em> fishing in Cilento, threatened by industrial fishing and regulatory barriers, offering a tangible example of safeguarding endangered food heritage. Through an integrated strategy combining education, advocacy, and community engagement, FFI ensures that food remains a living bridge between tradition, sustainability, and the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u30b5\u30e9\u30fb\u30ed\u30f4\u30a7\u30eb\u30b7<\/strong>, commenting on the award, stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPollica and Cilento are my school \u2013 living examples of resilience and guardians of a unique cultural and environmental heritage. I dedicate this award to the heroic farmers and fishermen, like Vittorio, who passionately carry on millennia-old knowledge \u2013 such as <em>menaica<\/em> fishing \u2013 and to the local administrators who preserve these territories by promoting holistic ecological development.<br>Marginal areas with high potential, like Cilento, safeguard biodiversity and traditions that must be protected, enhanced, and made active contributors to our future. Together, we have the responsibility to keep this knowledge alive and pass it on to new generations so it can become a practical tool to build a more just world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She added:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cReceiving the European Citizen Award for the safeguarding of endangered European heritage is a profound honor. I believe in a Europe that protects, preserves, and regenerates its heritage \u2013 not only as a memory of the past but as a living foundation for our future. This recognition affirms the vision of a Europe that values its cultural diversity as a shared strength, and that sees ancestral knowledge and lived landscapes as guiding lights to face global challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FFI\u2019s commitment is also expressed through the <strong>&#8220;Save the Ocean&#8221; Bootcamps<\/strong>, immersive educational programs that, starting from Pollica, engage young people, experts, and local fishermen in concrete actions to regenerate marine ecosystems, protect biodiversity, and raise awareness of climate and food challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the heart of these initiatives is the <strong>Paideia Campus in Pollica<\/strong>, recognized as a <strong>Living Lab for Integral Ecological Development<\/strong>. Inspired by the <strong>Mediterranean Diet \u2013 UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity<\/strong>, the campus promotes regenerative models for agriculture, food systems, and environmental policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded in Italy in 2014, the <strong>Future Food Institute<\/strong> is a global ecosystem with hubs in Europe, the United States, and Asia. Its approach integrates transdisciplinarity, community engagement, and technology to build a regenerative society and contribute actively to the achievement of the <strong>UN 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Delphi Economic Forum<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The award ceremony will take place on <strong>9 April 2025<\/strong>, during the <strong>tenth edition of the Delphi Economic Forum<\/strong>, the most prestigious annual Greek event dedicated to global dialogue among leaders in institutions, business, culture, diplomacy, and academia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s Forum, held in Delphi from 9 to 12 April, marks its 10th anniversary with a spirit of reflection and optimism, aiming to generate concrete solutions to major global challenges. The six thematic pillars include: geopolitics, environment, sustainable economy and finance, global future, education, and social development. Discussions will focus on ecological transition, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, economic cooperation, investment, and resilience in a fragmented world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speakers include heads of state and government, senior representatives of international organizations, and academic and business leaders, such as Greek Prime Minister <strong>Kyriakos Mitsotakis<\/strong>, Bulgarian President <strong>Rumen Radev<\/strong>, Bosnian President <strong>\u017deljka Cvijanovi\u0107<\/strong>, and <strong>OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann<\/strong>.
