They talked about the term \u201cErasmusNess\u201d, a word coined and presented by<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.garagerasmus.org\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">garagErasmus<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (in collaboration with university consortium <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cineca.it\/en\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cineca<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), that represents resilience, versatility, and empathy, which is so valuable in today\u2019s constantly changing, diverse job market. The idea developed as a way to give concrete value to the soft skills that<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/programmes\/erasmus-plus\/index_en.htm\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Erasmus<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> students across the EU acquire during their exchange experiences. With one third of employers across Europe struggling to find adequately qualified employees for their enterprises, garagErasmus is taking the pre-established network of international, adaptable Erasmus students and building an online platform to link employers, investors and Erasmus students in the same spot. Bestr will provide the concrete link between students\u2019 skills and the Check-in Europe online platform. <\/span>\n<strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/foodinnovationprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/BestR-conference-room-cineca.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2105\" src=\"http:\/\/foodinnovationprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/BestR-conference-room-cineca.jpg\" alt=\"BestR-conference-room-cineca\" width=\"700\" height=\"466\"><\/a><\/strong><\/strong>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event focused on the value of the Erasmus network from an entrepreneurial point of view.<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/futurefoodinstitute.org\/it\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Future Food Institute<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">founder<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/saroversi?lang=en\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sara Roversi<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> spoke about the impact and empowerment of young entrepreneurs, and the importance of connection and collaboration through networks to achieve success. She was followed by<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/marcogay\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Marco Gay,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> President of the<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.giovanimprenditori.org\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Giovani Imprenditori Cofindustria<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Italy. A round table discussion in the afternoon hosted Erasmus Alums, garagErasmus representatives, as well panelists from<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.barillagood4.com\/en\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Barilla<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> e il<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uniroma1.it\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University of Sapienza in Roma<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, all with the intent to talk about the advantages of the Erasmus Alumni network and the crucial role garagErasmus, Check-in Europe and Bestr will play in the employment and start-up communities. <\/span>\n<strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/foodinnovationprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/bestr-conference-cineca-kion.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2103\" src=\"http:\/\/foodinnovationprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/bestr-conference-cineca-kion.jpg\" alt=\"bestr-conference-cineca-kion\" width=\"700\" height=\"466\"><\/a><\/strong><\/strong>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Future Food Institute is excited to have<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/foodinnovationprogram.org\/feeding-fair-hackathon-brings-bright-minds-to-milan\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">collaborated with Bestr<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the past, awarding participants in the<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/feedingfair.org\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Feeding Fair<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hackathon and Food Innovation Program fellows with skill badges in team building, hacking, leadership, design thinking and prototyping skills. <\/span>\n<strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/foodinnovationprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/BestR-garagerasmus-conference.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2106\" src=\"http:\/\/foodinnovationprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/BestR-garagerasmus-conference.jpg\" alt=\"BestR-garagerasmus-conference\" width=\"700\" height=\"466\"><\/a><\/strong><\/strong>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We spoke with<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/simoneravaioli\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Simone Ravaioli<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, international business developer for Cineca and Bestr, about the goals of the garagErasmus initiative. \u201cErasmus is a life changing experience. Erasmus alumni have a very strong sense of belonging to the Erasmus community, and there is a high level of empathy, and that keeps the community together,\u201d says Simone. \u201cGaragErasmus is an initiative to bring together the Erasmus generation by developing an online platform, which aims to be the<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LinkedIn<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the Erasmus.\u201d The group has launched<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.public.checkineurope.org\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check-in Europe<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to tap into this pre-existing community network and exploit it for the benefit of employment and economic growth in the EU.<\/span>\n<strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/foodinnovationprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/bestr-badge-cineca-conference.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2101\" src=\"http:\/\/foodinnovationprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/bestr-badge-cineca-conference.jpg\" alt=\"bestr-badge-cineca-conference\" width=\"700\" height=\"466\"><\/a><\/strong><\/strong>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Simone explains, \u201cAs a user you profile yourself adding your info: your interests and your skills. Then we integrate Bestr so we bring in the badges as more solid evidence of your skills. We are going to start with one very specific badge which is the ErasmusNess badge.\u201d As students complete the Erasmus program, they are asked to fill out an assessment form (from the EU commission) and are given the opportunity to become engaged in the Erasmus alumni community. Immediate ErasmusNess Bestr badges provide incentives for alumni who might otherwise opt-out of the network, in that they quantify the<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.topuniversities.com\/student-info\/university-news\/international-students-more-employable-erasmus-study\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Erasmus experience as a valuable asset<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to future employers or business partners. <\/span>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/foodinnovationprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/bestr-conference-erasmusness-cineca.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2104\" src=\"http:\/\/foodinnovationprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/bestr-conference-erasmusness-cineca.jpg\" alt=\"bestr-conference-erasmusness-cineca\" width=\"700\" height=\"466\"><\/a>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The open badge initiative is highly regarded by the Future Food Institute, and it has proved to be an new online standard to recognise and verify learning and skills.
